Revive Eco and SAS Pivert Unite to Scale Up Groundbreaking Upcycling Process for a More Sustainable Future

At Revive Eco, we’re thrilled to announce our next major milestone: the launch of our European pilot project in collaboration with French chemical manufacturer SAS Pivert.

This exciting initiative marks a critical step forward in scaling up our unique upcycling process and significantly expanding our production capacity.

Following the successful scale-up of our technology at BioCity Scotland, our partnership with SAS Pivert marks the next exciting chapter—demonstrating the economic and environmental value at an industrial scale.

This pilot project also sees us collaborate with Costa Coffee who supplied the spent coffee grounds from their coffee shops.

The result? Upcycled coffee oil, a versatile ingredient with extensive benefits across skincare and food applications, offering a sustainable and innovative alternative to conventional materials.

A Collaboration Rooted in Sustainability

We’re proud to have unveiled this project at an event hosted at the UK Embassy in Paris, where key figures from both the Scottish and European business communities came together to celebrate this milestone.

Among those in attendance were Jamie Campbell, Deputy Head of the Scottish Government in France, and leaders from Scottish Development International (SDI), EIT Food, and the Shake Up Factory.

Their support, alongside the expertise of our partner SAS Pivert, has been instrumental in making this project a reality.

As Revive Eco’s co-founder, Scott Kennedy, expressed during the event, “This is truly a huge step in our journey and mission of replacing virgin ingredients derived from palm and coconut oil. We’ve worked tirelessly to develop a process that is both scalable and sustainable, and our collaboration with Pivert is a key part of this transformation.

David Decrock, SDI Country Head – France, added: “Scottish Development International and the Scottish Government hub in France are particularly proud to have welcomed the Scottish tech company Revive Eco, the French industrial group Pivert, EIT Food, and the ShakeUp Factory at the British Embassy last week to celebrate their collaboration.

This was reinforced by Marie Russier, Head of Entrepreneurship Programmes at EIT Food, “The EIT Food Accelerator Network programme and its Paris Hub delivery partner Shakeup Factory were delighted to support Revive Eco on their Tech Validation journey and mission to redefine waste and inspire a sustainable future. Thanks to the programme, Revive Eco was able to locate suitable facilities and the best partners to test, validate and fast-track their tech innovation.

Looking to the Future: Scaling Up and Beyond

The pilot project with SAS Pivert not only strengthens our position in the circular economy but also sets the stage for broader commercialisation.

Backed by funding from the EIT Food Accelerator Network Programme, as well as support from SDI, we are well on our way to introducing these innovative ingredients to the market.

However, we aren’t stopping there. As co-founder Fergus Moore noted, “Spent coffee grounds have always been just the first step for us. Our goal is to demonstrate that we can create value and positive environmental impact from a range of different waste streams.”

Our efforts to develop new processes and extract valuable ingredients from other by-products are already underway, and the months ahead promise even more exciting developments.

Raising the Bar—and the Investment

To fuel this growth, Revive Eco is in the midst of a new investment round, including a crowdfunding campaign on Crowdcube. The success of this raise will enable us to not only scale up the pilot project but also accelerate the commercial launch of our upcycled ingredients.

We’re passionate about pushing the boundaries of sustainable innovation, and this next phase positions us perfectly to achieve even greater milestones in the coming months.

With our European pilot in full swing and new investment fueling our growth, we’re entering an exciting period of progress.

We’re incredibly grateful for the continued support from our partners and investors as we work to redefine waste and unlock its true potential.

Stay connected as we embark on this journey and learn more about how upcycling can drive the change the world needs.
